Operan Name Builder
Operan Naming Conventions: Operan naming conventions follow European and American naming conventions for the most part, with a specific emphasis on silent letters and extended middle names. Operans have family names that come after their given names, along with multiple middle names that represent important figures in their lives or values to which they aspire. (As a slightly over-the-top example, think of Pablo Picasso's actual full name: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso.)
1. Your own full name: Start with your given (first) and family (last) name. We'll be adding on, not taking away. Enter your full name in the box below - your given name first and your family name second. (Don't worry, none of this information will be saved or stored by the site.)
2. "Person" middle names: Select two to three people in your life that have had a major impact on you. These are most often family members but could also be mentors or close friends. There is a strong operan tradition of adding new middle names as a gesture of gratitude to a person who has impacted oneself greatly. (Putting the name of a significant other is considered tacky but does occasionally happen.) Enter these names below.
3. "Value" middle names: Select one to two values that you feel either already describe you, or describe the person you'd like to be. These values should be in noun format, not adjective format. Feel free to peruse the list below if you can't think of any.

Enter your value middle names below:
4. Add silent letters: For your family name, operan naming conventions frequently involve adding silent letters. Consider adding any of the following silent letter combinations: h after consonants, r after vowels, gn, zh, ll, b at the end of words, c after s, or any other silent letters that would lengthen your last name/family name.
4. Put it all together: Rearrange your middle names to your liking and input your entire full name below, starting with your given name, then your middle names, then your family name.
Congratulations - you've built your operan name!
