"The Tragedy of Khetunpazhor"

By Rozhotkonen

Translated from Old Kudran by Urrutzotti

Khetunpazhor, what fearless warrior’s name

Has ever caused her shadow greater fear

Without cease did she stoke her martial flame

For razhakudar in her sixteenth year.

Her love of kudarani wavered not

Never a man to lead her will astray

Until a wanderer her city sought

And in a gaze he stole that love away.

For he entwined her soul, never to part -

From now until her end, he holds her heart.

Izukotempem traveled from Kalin

To seek his path as young men tend to do

Yet an eternal path he found within

When he beheld Khetunpahzor anew.

Though he sixteen and she not quite that age,

Together did they find a willing Mare

To oversee them ritually engaged

Their love outpour’d into the open air.

For she entwined his soul, never to part -

From now until his end, she holds his heart.

The jealous Moon so baleful in the sky

Did look upon their love as an offense

That as the lovers’ wedding date drew nigh

Izukotempem fell to pestilence.

His razhakudar passed, his shade had died

No magic of his own had he to heal

Khetunpazhor to Zetia did ride

In hope the Hospital would strike a deal.

For he entwined her soul, never to part -

From now until her end, he holds her heart.

Izukotempem circled ‘round his fate

Though rode she hard to Zetia with speed,

Khetunpazhor would still arrive too late

And so her hand was forced by dire need.

Sought she her shade and made the cursed pact

To drain its magic, save her lover’s life

And in her tortured sleep she was attacked

A warrior to the last, but ne’er a wife.

For she entwines his soul, never to part -

From now until his end, she holds his heart.

And when Izukotempem then did wake

To find his lover Woken by his side

His own life did the traveller then take.

In losing her, he had already died.

For they entwine their soul, never to part -

From now until their end,

Though moonborn claws may rend,

Beyond their end they hold the other’s heart.
